London, Brighton, Camden Town/Kings Cross & Greenwich!

I'm terribly sorry for not updating as much as I should, it's been a crazy couple of weeks. We have done SO much here in the London area; there is definitely never a dull moment. I wanted to spend time and make the site interesting for you all, and hopefully it will be, but for now I will be updating with simple posts and some pictures. I start classes on Wednesday and once I get a routine going I will be able to do more updating...hopefully. :)

The first moment I saw Big Ben I started to tear up a little. Some may find that a slightly extreme, but when you've wanted to visit a place your whole life and been pinching your pennies and saying your prayers that you get there to see it, at least just once, it is a great sense of accomplishment when it finally happens. So, this is my "I'M IN LONDON" photo.

I finally made it.

.........

This was taken at our trip to Brighton. Many may not know Brighton but those of you who were good in school and actually did their reading for English would know the name from many Jane Austen novels or even films. Brighton is located on the Southern shore of England. It is also home to the Royal Pavilion where King George the IV escaped all his royal duties to have parties and meals ranging from 19 to 139 different courses for one dinner, taking up to at least 6 hours to complete. Needless to say he liked his food and was disliked by his many starving subjects. This picture was taken outside the Royal Pavilion, which was also styled after an Indian design on the outside and Chinese on the inside...very interesting style Georgey had...

Finally visited Platform 9 3/4 at Kings Cross Station! It was under a bit of construction so it wasn't all that it was cracked up to be, but nevertheless there you have it! Our first Harry Potter experience and many more to come!

Highlight, Highlight, Highlight!
I got to stand on two Hemispheres today, have you done that?

While we visited Greenwich (best known for the meeting of the East and West) we got to go on a boat from Central London (Big Ben area) and go upon the Thames River and site see a bit. After we arrived in Greenwich we explored the market a bit and even witnessed the movie set of Sherlock Holmes with Robert Downing Jr and Jude Law. We never saw the men themselves but did get a peak at the set and some extras. Finally, we went up a pretty hill and stood where the two parts of the world meet and ended the trip with some cake and tea in our tummies for our journey back down the Thames to Central.

.................

Thanks for reading and I hope you stay tuned for more. There will be pictures added as well as updates on these few places I have gone. These are simply to wet your appetite for more ;)

Til then....
